In 1990 the business angel market was operating in almost total obscurity but thanks to the popularity of TV shows like Dragon’s Den, business angel networks are popping up everywhere which means that angel investment is becoming very popular. But what do you do as a begginer? Listen to other investors, read books, allow consultants or angel networks to guide you?

You need to take responsibility for your own actions but to make sure that your decisions are well informed it would not hurt to embark on a little knowledge fest; you are sure to learn something you didn’t know before.

At the heart of the programme is a complete training day which includes an introduction to all the investment skills needed to make the right decisions.

In addition to the workshop there is a working lunch where you will be encouraged to join a round table discussion with your other delegates and one or two investors.

• How do the business angel networks work; who are they and where do you find them.
• How to recognise a good investment opportunity.
• The business plan and cash flow forecasts.
• Explanation of shareholder agreements and other essential documents.
• What happens after the investment has been agreed.
• How to build a portfolio.
• A guide to how to invest within a syndicate group.
• A guide to co-investment and the tax and legal issues in becoming a business angel.
